What if I am traveling alone?
If you are traveling alone and need a roommate we will do our best to match you up with someone else of the same gender in the group so as to avoid paying the single supplement.  See below for those interested in having a single room.

What about airfare?
We leave the option up to you.  Book air on your favorite airline through us at special low rates or maybe use those frequent flier miles that you have been accumulating.  Or perhaps an online booking site.  Whichever you prefer---we leave that choice up to you.  Be aware that if you book your own airfare it is your responsibility to meet up with the group upon arrival at the airport.  On day of departure you may travel with the group to the airport or if you have a different departure time you will need to make arrangements at your own expense.

How much of a deposit is required to book a tour?
The deposit amount is listed under each tour itinerary.  Deposit is due within 10 days of booking, balance is due 60 days prior to departure.

What types of payments do you accept?
We accept personal checks, Visa & MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Can I request certain seats on the plane?
If you have booked your air through us, seats are assigned by Mercy Tours as a courtesy at time of ticketing.  If you have special requests, please call the airline directly after receiving your tickets.  Please note that the airline can change your seats at any time.

Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.  Such policies will cover your penalty costs in case you have to cancel your trip on short notice, have to cut your trip short, require medical treatment or hospitalization overseas, etc.  It also covers lost luggage, trip delays, etc.  Click here for enrollment information.

Are tips included?
In almost every case tips are included at hotels and restaurants.  Tips to our guides and drivers are not included and are voluntary on your part, but definitely appreciated.  Our recommended amount is spelled out in the details of each pilgrimage.

Can I travel with a wheelchair?
If you require a wheelchair, you must bring one with you--they are not readily available upon arrival.  We allow collapsible wheelchairs on our tours.  We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to a tour member for walking or getting on and off motorcoaches or other transportation vehicles.  Travelers who need such assistance must be accompanied by a qualified companion.

How many pieces of luggage can I bring?
Each tour member is limited to one large suitcase and a small carry-on bag.    Specific luggage requirements will be sent to you about 60 days prior to your departure date.

What about our buses?
We use modern, air-conditioned motorcoaches.  Although they are equipped with restrooms, these are for emergency use only.  When traveling we make frequent stops along the way for rest breaks.

What about smoking?
Smoking is much more prevalent in other countries than the U.S. although this is beginning to change.  We have a "no smoking" policy on our tours.  While  smokers are welcome to join our tours, they are not allowed to smoke at group events, on the bus or in their room if they are sharing a hotel room with another tour member who does not smoke.

Be aware that many European hotels classify "no smoking" rooms as a room in which you are not smoking.   This means the previous guest may have smoked in your room and there may be an ashtray in the room.  While this has not been a problem for most of our travelers, those with heightened sensitivity to cigarette smoke should know that we cannot guarantee a smoke-free room.

What about hotel rooms?
Most rooms have two beds.  For those married couples who wish one bed we can request, but not guarantee,  a double bed.  If you are traveling alone you will be roomed with another person of the same gender and have two twin beds in the room.  Each room has its own private bath.

Are single rooms available?
A few single rooms are usually available at extra cost on most pilgrimages.  Please be aware that often single rooms are very small and not in the best location.

What about optional tours?
In keeping with our efforts to include everything possible in the price you pay, we do not offer many optional tours.  If any are available they are spelled out in each individual itinerary.  Many companies include optional activities that can easily run the cost up many hundreds of dollars more than the advertised price.
